Birthday

Tomorrow is my birthday! I am going to be 19 years old. My best friend who still lives at home is coming out to Kalamazoo for the weekend. I have class in the morning then I will come home and take a nap. When Ellie comes out here we will catch up for a couple hours. We will get ready with Mallory and Kelsey. I get to pick somewhere to go to dinner. When we are done with dinner we will go to my friends work to see her and get free ice cream for my birthday. When she gets out of work we are going to go to her house for a girls night. There will be lots of talking and laughing and hopefully tons of fun.

Analysis Outline
Curious George

Summary:
In the original text Curious George the children’s book George, a carefree, happy, African monkey meets the man with the big yellow hat as a result of his curiosity. George liked playing with the big yellow hat, which aided the man in catching the monkey. The man brought George back with him on the big boat. George’s curiosity caused him to encounter troubles and the man found George a nice home in the zoo.
The adaptation of the text was Curious George the Movie. In the movie Ted, the man in the big yellow hat was on a voyage to find the giant monkey idol when George finds interest in Ted’s yellow hat. George ends up following Ted all the way back to Ted’s house. All the while Ted is dealing with everything going wrong and thinks George is just causing more issues but in the end George helps him realize what he was looking for was right in front of him the whole time.

Purpose: To show kids curiosity is a great way of learning

Ethos: The known story of Curious George
Pathos: The emotional connection formed between George and Ted

winnie the pooh

Winnie the Pooh is such a wonderful children's movie. There are many different adaptations of the original story. As a child I loved to read the books. My mom would sit with us and we would read the stories over and over again. My mom loved the characters so much so they were always a part of my life. When the movie remake was made last summer my sister and I both got so excited because it brought back so many memories. I loved watching the movie so much that I bought it for my mom for Christmas and we watched it as a family on Christmas morning. I am hoping to make this project fun by relating it to such a great childhood favorite!

Charlie Brown Pictures

The top picture is a piece from the original comic The Peanuts. The original pictures are in black and white. The pictures are very simple. There is minimal shading and very simple lines. The second picture is the cover to two different Peanuts Charlie Brown movies. The characters are in color in this piece. The character's drawings are still very simple but with the color they seem to have more demention to them. The two pictures are similar in the way that no matter what media or design the Peanut's characters are shown in they are always the same drawings. The characters have kept their same style and design and they were originaly created.

spring

Spring is a wonderful time of the year! I love when the sky is bright blue and there are big fluffy white clouds floating across the sky. The fresh air is blowing through all the open spaces. The grass is green and becoming lushous. The windows are open and every morning when I wake up I hear the sweet song of the birds outside my dorm. The sun is shinning and the world is so bright! I do not know how someone can not be happy walking out side. Walking to classes is now a peaceful thing I no longer dread the idea of walking to class. My favorite thing is driving with the windows down the wind blowing through my hair my sunglasses on and my music turned up loud. I can feel it the fun times of summer are soon approaching!

Rhetorical Appeals

Ethos- the ethical appeal
pathos- the emotional appeal
logos- the appeal to logic

In the telivision show House M.D. Dr. House is the ethical appeal. He is the most credible doctor with the best medical reputation. His actual ethical reputaion is not so great though because he does whatever he thinks is necessary to help the patient. The emotional appeal is Dr. House's unique relationships with everyone on the show. He knows how to work everyone and even though he does not play by the rules and really does not seem to show much care for his patients he will do anything necessary for their health. The show House is all about using Dr. House's strange sometimes unfollowable logic to piece every bit of information together to find the sourch of the problem.
